ALTRUISM: Alfred Burgesson Wins Volta Pitch

In May, alumni Alfred Burgesson '15 was selected for Volta's 2021 Cohort after his Volta Cohort Pitch! Alfred will join the year-long Volta Cohort with four other Atlantic Canadian early-stage technology startups with his new business, Tribe Network, and receiving a $25,000 investment to help grow the business. To join the cohort, Alfred had to pitch his business to a panel of expert judges from the region’s startup community with representatives from Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), Innovacorp, LongShot Capital and Volta.

Alfred started Tribe Network to exist as an entrepreneurship and innovation hub where Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) can come together to support their ideas, build communities and increase access to opportunities for BIPOC.

We are excited to see Alfred continue to succeed and bringing communities together as Tribe Network grows. Proud alumni like Alfred are inspiring for the Grammar Community by achieving excellence and embracing altruistic values. Congratulations, Alfred; best of luck with your new entrepreneurial journey!
