Altruism: Grammarians walk to support Ronald McDonald House

Updated: Aug 14, 2019

On May 26th, 20 Grammar families and 30 students and teachers dressed in their swankiest pajamas to participate in the Ronald McDonald House’s PJ Walk for Kids. Participation in the walk raises funds to give families with sick children a place to stay together and be near the medical facility they need.

Students along with their families started the morning with a pancake breakfast hosted by the HRM Lion Club and got to hear from a local family who has stayed and utilized the Ronald McDonald House or a Ronald McDonald family room. The rest of the day included a walk around downtown and fun-filled activities for the children.

Families and students were encouraged to create their own teams to raise funds, with a goal of $140. Grammarians raised a total of $2048 for the Ronald McDonald House.

The Ronald McDonald House is an organization that Grammarians work with frequently. Grammar students volunteer weekly at the Ronald McDonald House, this year Middle and Senior School students prepared 26 meals through the Home for Dinner program.
